Cosplay interviews! A weekly feature on Animetion where we talk to cosplayers on what motivates them, plus a cool gallery showcasing their cosplays.  Here we talk to cosplayer:

Name:
fayt008

Q: When did you start cosplaying and how long for?

I started to cosplay when I was a little kid, I didn't know what I was doing, but I still dressed up as characters from my favorite video games and TV shows.  It must have been about 5 years ago :) I remember I dressed up as Link from Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, many halloweens ago.

Q: What attracts you cosplay?

The whole aspect of dressing up for no reason appealed to me.  I love dressing up, and its just something I do.  It's so fun to make the costumes (even if they aren't brilliant!) and just have a bit of fun with it :P

Q:  What has been your favourite cosplay?

My fave so far has been Light Yagami from Death Note, even though I'm a girl.  It was awesome to be evil for a while :D I had so much fun gelling my hair right, it took forever to do it however.

Q: Most memorable moment whilst cosplaying?

When I was cosplaying as Light, my friend had dressed up as L and we made a pair of handcuffs that L chains to Light and himself (proper metal ones with a chain).  My friend was dragging me all over Waterstones book shop and I had to keep on diving to get out of peoples way as I was being dragged round haha ^^

Q:  Have you had any cosplays go wrong/encountered problems whilst making cosplays?

Only making the costumes look real.  I hate the kind of cosplays where the material it is made of looks too bright, and it just looks cheaply made.  And hair - hair is the biggest problem i think.  To me, wigs don't cut it, so if I am doing a cosplay, I'll grow out my hair/cut it/dye it, whatever, just to make it look realistic.  But it can take a lot of time D: Worth it in the end though :)

Q:  Have you ever regretted cosplaying?

Never.  It has always been great fun, especially if you're doing it with some friends :D

Q:  Have you ever done group cosplay? If so how did you find that experience?

I've done about 2 group cosplays overall.  The one I mentioned before, as Light and L, and another where a group of my friends and we dressed as neko (cat) girls and wondered around town all day :) That was great fun, got some strange looks and a few whistles, but overall, it was worth it just for the experience.

Q:  What cosplays are you planning?

I'm planning a Rikku cosplay from Final Fantasy X and a Misa Amane cosplay as well for this year (Although I don't like her that much I wanted to do something from the Death Note series XD).  I can't wait to start making the costumes, its the best part :)

Q:  Do you have a dream cosplay?

Probably Fayt Leingod or Sophia Esteed from Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time.  It's my fave game of all time, and I Love fayt :) It would be perfect, but it's more a case of time and money to make the costumes. I'll get round to it though, I'm sure ^^

Q:  Do you have one piece of advice that you would give to cosplay virgins?

Don't worry about how you look.  If you think your hair isn't right, or you might be a bit to tall/ big to play that person, whatever, it really doesn't matter.  All that matters is the spirit of the cosplay :D its about having fun :3

Q:  Do you have an account with the website Cosplay Island/other social networking sites?

I don't actually, I really should.  Once I get a few more pictures of my self in cosplay, I'll probably sign up to one :P
