Our Cosplay Correspondent Ami-Chan kept a keen eye on the various cosplay events throughout the weekend, but not everything went smoothly!

"For the first time in Amecon's history the cosplay panels were introduced.  During the weekend a number of presentations were held in the Ken Edwards building, covering everything from make-up and wigs to stage presence and basic sewing.  The idea of learning from other cosplayers about different elements of cosplay is certainly appealing to me, as there is always something new to learn!

"On the Saturday, I first attended a talk about prop work.  Unfortunately, there had been a mix up with the descriptions and the talk was mainly a discussion about using latex to make items such as masks and arms.  Even though this was not an area of cosplay that I would normally consider, I found it interesting to see the time, effort (and danger!!!) put into creating a mask.  Nert (ManyLemons) and his colleague were great in presenting this topic and answering any questions that people had.

"During my weekend I also tried to attend the Sewing 101 and Wig Craft.  However, both of

these panels were cancelled.  This was the overall problem with the panels, nothing seemed to happen as it was supposed to.  Its a shame, as if everything had gone to plan it could have been something that was truly amazing."
