17th July 2004

Legendary computer game developer Square Enix have apparently confirmed the Playstation 2 game Full Metal Alchemist and the Broken Angel for release in the UK!  Based on the popular anime series Full Metal Alchemist, the game is an action based RPG and is amongst a slew of titles confirmed by Square Enix as they announced a massive expansion of their London based European wing.  Unfortunately we will have to wait until March 2005 for this title, but in the meantime we will get Final Fantasy XI (September 2004), Star Ocean III: Till the Ends of Time (October 2004) and Kingdom Hearts II (December 2004).  The expansion will apparently mean an increase in the number of titles given European releases by Square Enix, and they have also expressed a desire to bring related anime and manga series here too, so here's hoping for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children...

10th July 2004

Manga Video have announced the revised release dates for their two major new anime releases this year.  Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex has now been pencilled in for release on the 13th September 2004 with Dead Leaves following a month later on 18th October 2004.  The releases have been delayed following Manga's takeover by Anchor Bay, but with some decent publicity could serve to rekindle interest in anime in the UK.

10th July 2004

Out this week:

Gundam Wing Box Set 1 (Beez) Cert PG
Gundam Wing Box Set 2 (Beez) Cert PG

These Gundam boxsets are the first anime releases for ages to be available in Europe and not the US.  Each set contains two of the ten DVDs that comprise the Gundam Wing series and also an exclusive Gundam figure.  The figures are about 4 inches (10cm) tall, are fully poseable and come with extra snap together pieces such as weapons and alternative hands.  At long last we get a decent special edition release...
